Pet owners BEWARE, Dr. Harrington does not know what she is doing. She Harrington has excellent bedside manner and showed me a lot of kindness in our time working with her but her poor clinical skills are dangerous to animals in her care. My furbaby, Louie, had bloodwork done in March 2022 which indicated early stage kidney disease but the early diagnosis was not communicated to me as such until April 2023, when we did blood work again and his numbers had slightly increased. There were no recommendations for kidney diet, additional fluids, water fountain (typical treatment for early stage kidney disease that would be suggested by most vets). Instead, Dr. Harrington suggested that I ween Louie off of his steroid, a medication he had been doing well on for 3 years. So I listened. Louie showed symptoms of getting sick - flaky fur (Dr. Harrington said this was allergies), stinky breath, increased water intake (Dr. Harrington said this was Cushing's disease caused by steroids), decrease in energy (Dr. Harrington said this was due to old age). Time and again my concerns were either dismissed or explained to me as something contributable to old age, minor ailments, or steroid side effects. Looking back, Louie was presenting with OBVIOUS and TYPICAL signs of worsening kidney disease, which by the way is the most common disease amongst cats. As I watched my baby get sicker the phone calls with Dr. Harrington increased and she continued to reassure me that getting him off steroids would be the best treatment. Multiple vets have since told me that they would NEVER take a senior cat off of a medication they've been maintained on for years. But Dr. Harrington did. And eventually, Louie crashed. All of a sudden he wouldn't eat and couldn't walk. Dr. Harrington was useless and confused by this sudden decline so she recommended we see a neurologist. Louie and I went to AMC and the neurologist found nothing. So after that $350 visit and and 2 weeks of Louie suffering terribly, I was told by the neurologist to get a blood panel, something she was surprised was not immediately recommended by Dr. Harrington. We received the results and Louie's kidney disease had progressed to END STAGE! He went from early stage to end stage all in a matter of 6 months. The bloodwork revealed just how incompetent Dr. Harrington was so we immediately found another vet. Under a new vet's care, Louie went back on his regular dose of steroids and received kidney disease treatment (fluids, vitamins, diet change etc.) things became stable and we were lucky enough to enjoy one more year together. I can't help but wonder how much more time Louie and I would have had together if he had been initially treated by a capable vet. Please, for the sake of your pet's health and your own heartache, do not allow your furbaby to be treated by Dr. Harrington. She should not be practicing medicine.

Doctor Harrington is fantastic! Professional, responsive, courteous, and direct. First met her in 2023 for a second opinion on my older dog's knee a few weeks after moving to the neighborhood. She made time to see my dog same day and gave excellent advice and referrals to a fantastic vet surgery practice in Brooklyn. I immediately started coming to CityVet first for everything. In early 2024 she made a quick second diagnosis that another vet at her practice had missed, then performed the needed minor surgery on my dog herself with excellent results that immediately cleared up the issue. Front desk is generally very responsive in person and over email, most recently going out of their way to follow up multiple times when PetSmart kept botching my flea/tick approval and helped me switch to Chewy. Highly recommend this Vet!

These folks are fantastic. I came in with a dog that had been attacked in Murray Park and had a bad bite wound. They immediately took charge and treated the wound. Dr Harrington was wonderful; empathetic, calm and professional (as were the staff in general.) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Don’t waste your time with the urgent care franchise a few blocks away with their predictably corporate approach.

Brought my dog for an emergency right before Covid. The attention was so pleasing that I wished I had continued with them but they closed when the city closed back in 2020. I came back to the neighborhood and of course I wanted my two dogs to be under the care of this people. Needless to say there was nothing but a commercial paperwork that lasted forever. With an assistant giving attitude really lacking the minimum customer service etiquete.. He presented a bill much bigger than what it was discussed over the phone. And he had not even checked the dogs or go through their records. This is a total waste of time. I left the place and will be in the look of a new vet. The people we hire to manage our business make a great impact in the perception of it. I went from amazed by its service to amazed by its lack of it.
